Joining eldr has been a happy coincidence for me. I come from a small town where debating is considered a bit pretentious, especially for a girl. And for all these stereotypes, I never really got to extend my perception of debate beyond just arguing and being condescending. Nobody ever gave me a chance to learn it, and neither did I want to. Till eldr came in the picture. I stumbled upon it during the state selections of IDL, my first debate competition. And ever since then, I have not stopped speaking.

Eldr gave me a voice, and taught me how to use it. It gave me the confidence, I never knew I had in me, it gave me friends, who I thought I will never be able to make.

And that is why, eldr for me and for everyone of its members, is more than just a debate institution, because I believe the rest will only teach you debating while eldr will promise you that you will evolve as a person with it.

For me, eldr would always be on top of my gratitude list, because it gave me a family, I didn’t know I needed.
